It would be in your best interest to contact us at 800-550-1961 to determine your best solution to your situation and budget. This service is free of charge.
In the meantime, we suggest you determine how much is past due, what months are owed on your mortgage, when is the sheriff's sale (if applicable) and whether your lender has any special programs for your hardship situation. Once you determine where you stand with the mortgage, save as much money as possible for your mortgage. Prioritize your bills-- save for your mortgage- your current payment plus more if possible, then pay electric, heat, insurances, groceries, gas and car (if needed for work).
Short-term help for bills could be extensions or forbearances to free up money to save for your mortgage. Depending on your current budget, your options may include a forbearance agreement, borrowing from a friend or family member, reconfiguring of the mortgage (putting months at the end of your loan if lender does this), or checking outside agencies for help such as the Northwest MI human services to see if they have assistance money available to help prevent foreclosure, sale of the house, pre-foreclosure sale or our Debt Management Program. |
