Jane E. McNamara
President and Chief Executive Officer
Jane E. McNamara is president and chief executive officer of GreenPath, Inc. The company, doing business as GreenPath Debt Solutions, is a nationwide, not-for-profit, providing financial literacy through consumer education and counseling in the areas of debt issue, housing, bankruptcy, and money management. Since 1961, GreenPath has been helping people resolve financial problems through credit and debt counseling, financial education, and debt management services.
Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Mich., GreenPath employs more than 500 people and operates60 branch offices in Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Vermont, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona and Wyoming. In addition, they deliver licensed services throughout the United States.
Under her leadership as president and CEO, GreenPath’s revenue has grown from $8.87 million in 1996 to $42.5 million in 2011.
McNamara’s experience includes over 30 years in executive leadership, strategic planning, financial management, quality improvement, financial education and one-on-one counseling. She served as chief operating officer of GreenPath before becoming president and CEO in 1997. Prior to that,
McNamara worked as Director of Education, as well as being a counselor in branch operations working directly with consumers.
A graduate of Michigan State University, McNamara earned her bachelor’s degree in consumer services and her master’s degree in family economics and management, with a specialty in family financial counseling.
She currently serves on the boards and committees of:
•Hospice of Michigan Board of Trustees; Vice-Chair, Finance Committee
•National Foundation for Credit Counseling – Board of Trustees; Secretary, Finance Committee
•American Diabetes Association – Leadership Board, Commitment for a Cure Gala Chair (Michigan)
McNamara is past president of the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business, a national consumer affairs’ organization, along with being past president of its Great Lakes Chapter. She has served several roles with the Council on Accreditation. McNamara has received numerous honors including the Philip A. Hart Award for her outstanding work in the education and counseling of consumers. She is a graduate of Leadership Detroit XXIX and a member of the International Women’s Forum.
GreenPath is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling and the Better Business Bureau.
