In just three years, the number of consumer bankruptcy filings has plunged by 30 percent, with the biggest drop in filings coming from states hardest hit by the recession. That's down 16 percent from the same period last year, according to statistics from Epiq Systems, which analyzes figures generated by the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts.
