Local NonProfits Provide Free Housing Education Class in Madison
(MADISON, WI – May 6, 2015) Three area nonprofits, GreenPath Financial Wellness, Buyers Round Table of Dane County and Project Home, will team up for free two-night Home Buyer Education Class on May 12 and 19, in Madison.
“The class is for first time homebuyers, particularly those who qualify for various down payment assistance programs,” said Ellen Bernards, GreenPath education specialist. “It will help participants prepare for homeownership, assist them in budgeting and planning appropriately, and help them understand the mortgage application and approval process. Past attendees have consistently stated that they were much better prepared for, and comfortable with, the home buying process after attending class.”
The class features practitioners in lending, real estate, insurance, home inspection and debt management. Classroom time totals seven hours over two consecutive Tuesdays. A one-hour GreenPath counseling session is also required, either by telephone or in person, per National Industry Standards.
May 12 will cover credit, money management, down payment assistance programs and lending.
May 19 will feature realtors, home inspectors, insurance agents and closing experts.
