LOCAL YOUTH POSTER CONTEST STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF SAVINGS
GreenPath invites area youth to participate in BE MONEY WI$E poster contest
(Farmington Hills, MI – January 7, 2010) – GreenPath Debt Solutions invites area elementary through high school students to participate in the nationwide BE MONEY WI$E poster contest sponsored by National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). Students who enter the contest can win prizes, recognition and the chance to compete in the national competition held in Washington, DC, in April, Financial Literacy Month. The initiative engages youth in promoting the importance of wise money management while providing instructors with an easy and exciting way to introduce fiscal responsibility to their classes.
GreenPath will choose from the entries it receives, the posters best conveying the theme “$mart Money Choices = A Brighter Future” in three grade-specific categories: Elementary (3rd – 5th grade), Middle (6th – 8th grade), and High School (9th – 12th grade). GreenPath will award the winner from each age category with a $100 savings bond and a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card; runners up will receive a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. The winners’ posters will be submitted to the NFCC for entry and judging in the national contest. The overall winner, and recipient of gifts including a $500 savings bond and an all-expense paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., will be announced in April.
“The poster contest is an excellent opportunity to promote financial education to area young students as well as a positive lesson for people of all ages,” said Jane McNamara, GreenPath president and CEO.
