  • GreenPath Financial Wellness is a trusted national nonprofit with more than 60-years of helping people build financial health and resiliency. Our NFCC-certified counselors give you options to manage credit card debt, student loans and homeownership.

A recently acquired grant provides veterans financial health in Texas. Recently, I was contacted by Kerry Robinson of GreenPath Financial Wellness regarding a grant they received from Texas Veterans Commission for the purpose of offering free financial services for military, veterans and their families in the State of Texas.

The Veterans Financial Health Initiative is designed to assist individuals with effective money management, education and referrals.

GreenPath is a nationwide nonprofit organization operating more than 60 branch offices in 17 states offering services nationwide. They are accredited by the Council on Accreditation and members of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies and a housing counseling intermediary for the U.S. Government Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Services provided include free counseling on subjects such as credit and debt management, new home pre-purchase, reverse mortgages, bankruptcy and education.

On Nov. 17, Robinson visited Mission Granbury and I had an opportunity to meet with him and learn more about this program and how it works.

GreenPath’s closest offices to Granbury are in Plano and McKinney so the majority of their counselors will work with individuals here telephonically.

Clients interested in taking advantage of GreenPath’s financial wellness programs will need their DD214, VA Disability letter, NGB form 22 for National Guard, Texas Drivers license with veterans designation, power of attorney with veterans status documents if a family member, or any state or federal documents designating the clients status as a veteran. GreenPath will provide customized financial counseling based on individual needs.

Both my office, or Ken Horton at Mission Granbury, can assist potential clients with a GreenPath referral form, and a counselor will be assigned to contact them at their convenience. You may also feel free to contact them directly for a consultation at 855-400-3714 or visit www. greenpath.org for more information.

Counselors are compassionate and nonjudgmental so clients need not feel intimidated or embarrassed to discuss difficult financial issues. The more they know, the better they can direct you to financial wellness.

As always if you have questions, please call my office. It’s an honor to serve you.lmallon@co.hood.tx.us | 817-579-3292
