How Lavell Got into Credit Card Debt

Lavell’s debt started with an unexpected credit card. He received a card he hadn’t applied for and used it to buy gifts for people he cared about.

Over time, the balances grew. Lavell eventually had five credit cards near their limits and was carrying $49,572 in credit card debt.

As 0% intro APR offers expired, more of his monthly income went toward debt payments. He was making payments but wasn’t seeing enough progress to feel like he was getting ahead.
