In a holiday season like no other, the impact of financial instability on stress levels is a daily challenge for many of us.
Some of the biggest challenges stem from holiday stress, the ongoing pandemic, and the reduced chance for staying socially connected this upcoming winter.
A report from Prudential, “Ties That Bind: The Tight Links between Mental and Financial Health,” looks at the significant connection between financial stress and mental health and well-being. The report notes that among people who described themselves as “highly stressed,” money was most often cited as the main cause.
According to the Prudential report, financial strain is being felt by the newly unemployed or furloughed as well as those still working but facing an uncertain future. The uncertainty, with new quarantine measures and social tumult, has mental health professionals noting that the holiday season might be much more challenging this year for many of us. In the hustle and bustle of the season, take time to explore mental health resources. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
